The service arrangements have been finalized for the legendary Dwayne "Pearl" Washington.
Pearl passed away last week at the age of 52 after battling brain tumors. According to syracuse.com
, viewing hours will be held at a church in Brooklyn on Thursday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will then be a "Homecoming" service at Christian Culture Center also in Brooklyn on Friday morning followed by a funeral.
The former Syracuse University basketball star electrified fans for three seasons playing for Jim Boeheim before going on to leave a major legacy of helping others until his death last week. He was a private person thrown into the spotlight because of his talents. And while he always left the crowds wanting more, from all accounts, he never acted like the "star." He was someone to emulate because of much more than just his play on the court.
Rest in place, Pearl.
